MacBook Air and Pro repair in Burlington
MacBook screens, batteries, storage, and slow MacBooks. Most repairs start at $99 plus parts, and if a fix is not worth it you can trade up to a refurbished MacBook the same day.
Most MacBooks from the last decade
MacBooks are the most common Mac we see in the shop. After 16 years of working on them, we have seen most things. Some older models are out of Apple's official service window; we can often still source parts and keep them running.
Common repairs
Pricing on MacBooks depends on the model, not just the part. Here is what affects it.
Screws or glue?
Older MacBooks (pre-2016) have battery packs held in with screws, a simpler $99 plus parts job. Newer Air and Pro models have batteries glued into the case with double-sided adhesive, which is much more involved and costs more in labor. Battery health under 80 percent is when we usually recommend replacement.
MacBook battery costDisplay assemblies vs glass
Some MacBook screen repairs are a straightforward swap. Others require replacing the whole display assembly, which is a different cost entirely. Newer Retina displays especially. We quote the model in person.
SSD upgrades and data recovery
Older MacBooks (pre-2016) often allow SSD upgrades. Newer ones have the SSD soldered to the logic board. We will tell you what your model supports. Data recovery is possible on many MacBooks even when they will not boot.
Slow MacBook cleanup
Storage cleanup, removing background apps, and refreshing macOS. An older MacBook Air with an SSD upgrade and cleanup often feels new again.
Why is my Mac slow?Keys and trackpads
Stuck keys, trackpad issues, and the dreaded butterfly keyboard on 2016-2019 MacBook Pros. The butterfly keyboard is notoriously fragile; we can fix or replace it where possible.
Liquid damage assessment
Coffee, water, anything else. We open the MacBook, clean what we can, and tell you honestly whether the fix is worth it. Sometimes it is, sometimes the cost is too high.
What helps the most
An old MacBook does not necessarily mean a slow MacBook. Most of the slow ones we see can be brought back with a few targeted upgrades.
Free up storage
macOS needs at least 10 percent free space to run well. Clearing large files and unused apps often makes a noticeable difference on the spot.
Upgrade to SSD (older models)
On pre-2016 MacBook Pros and Airs with a spinning drive or smaller SSD, upgrading to a faster, larger SSD is the single biggest improvement. Same day in most cases.
Reset and reinstall
A clean macOS install (with your data backed up first) clears out years of accumulated background clutter. We can do this for you, or guide you through it.

Can you replace a MacBook battery?
Yes. On older models held in with screws, it is a $99 plus parts job. On newer Air and Pro models with glued-in batteries, it takes more work and costs more. We quote in person.
Can you fix a cracked MacBook screen?
Yes on most models. Pricing depends on whether it is a straightforward swap or a full display assembly. Bring it in for a quote. Some newer models have the display fused to the lid; those cost more.
My MacBook is slow. What can you do?
Often a lot. Storage cleanup, removing startup clutter, and on older MacBooks an SSD upgrade can make it feel new again. On newer Apple silicon MacBooks (M1, M2, M3), slowdowns are more often a specific app or process; we can find and fix it.
Will I lose my data?
No. We do not touch your data unless you ask us to. If a repair could put your data at risk we will tell you, but backing up is a paid add-on and is otherwise on you before drop-off.
What if my MacBook is not worth fixing?
You can put it toward a refurbished MacBook from our shelves and we will move your data over the same day. The trade-up often costs less than the repair would have.
Do you fix water-damaged MacBooks?
We assess them. Some are recoverable, especially after a quick rinse and cleanup. Some are not. We will give you a straight answer before any work begins, and only charge a bench fee if the fix is not possible.
How long does a typical MacBook repair take?
Most repairs are same day or next business day when the parts are in stock. Diagnostics typically take 24 to 48 hours depending on the device. Battery and SSD swaps are usually same day. Screen replacements that require ordered parts may take a few days.
Do you work on M1, M2, M3 MacBooks?
Yes for software, storage cleanup, and data recovery. The hardware on Apple silicon MacBooks is largely glued together; some hardware repairs are not economical on those models, and we will tell you straight when that is the case.
